Charlotte and Christian

I tend to shy away from wedding photography – it’s normally an entire day of being on the ball, trying to never miss a shot – juggling with equipment, second guessing where the couple/guests/lighting will be next. But when my sister asked me to photograph her wedding, I was honoured – and incredibly touched that she trusted me with such a huge responsibility.

Towards the big day I started to research the venue, discover what other wedding photographers had done there – watch YouTube videos on techniques that were popular at the moment, what to do / what not to do. There is so much to learn, it’s not surprising that people spend a good proportion of the year making a living out of this.

The big day arrived, and I set off out at 7am to begin photographing the venue – with the rest of the morning spent capturing everyone getting ready until we all set off for the church. The day went incredibly quickly – after a lovely ceremony we headed back to the reception where the lighting was exceptional. Very Autumnal!

In the evening, I had a few ideas I wanted to try with back lighting, which turned out to be spectacular! I was dead chuffed with some of the moments I had captured, and I was quietly confident that my sister Charlotte and my new brother-in-law Christian would be too. And thankfully they were 🙂

Here are some of my favourites from the day.
