Before the Christmas rush, Clare, Edie and I spent a few nights up in the Lake District, at Langdale in ElterWater with my mum and brother. We had a beautiful Monday morning – a couple of days before winter solstice, with sunrise at 0830. I headed out with my drone to get some dawn photos! We later ventured out for a walk and to feed some ducks – but with the temperature being zero, we didn’t stray too far!

On the first week of September, Clare and I drove down to Carbis Bay near St Ives for our own little babymoon – our last holiday before our little one joins us next month. We had booked 5 nights in the Boskerris Hotel (our second stay together at this hotel, we love it!) and planned a couple of days out walking and lying around on the beach…

This July, Clare and I set off for Portugal with my parents to spend five nights out there with Jill and Dave – followed by another week out there with the Weavings and Hannah! It was my parents first visit to the villa, so we were all excited to show them around. We arrived just after sun down, with lights of Portimao and Lagos twinkling in the distance and the warm smell of eucalyptus in the air.

The first couple of days were spent around the pool – a perfect opportunity for us to test out Dave’s new Spa Bar…

Clare’s been asking me to post this one for a while… on Boxing Day 2012, Clare and I set off for New York for a much needed break. We arrived in New York City, at our hotel The Library (next to the public Library) in time for dinner. I remember the weather being rough – howling winds and heavy rain lashing at the empty sidewalks. It was quite surreal to think it was Boxing Day and we were sat in New York having dinner. I remember the city being very quiet – people still out of town spending the holiday with friends and family….

Last week Clare and I took a holiday to Mykonos, Greece and stayed at the Nissaki Boutique Hotel on Platys Gialos. On arrival, we were greeted with a glass of champagne and told we had been upgraded to the honeymoon suit – a great start to our holiday! We dumped our cases in the room and explored the hotel, which was incredible. Situated above Psarou Beach with views out to the ocean, the bay was dotted with millionaire yachts. With an infinity pool, outside Jacuzzi and ‘Sun Pods’ for making the most of the warm weather, we quickly settled in for the week…

This weekend Clare had booked a surprise trip away for my 30th Birthday, and sat me down on Thursday night to tell me that we’d be driving down to stay in Bath for the weekend – taking a narrow boat out on the canal for the day on the Saturday. So we set off Friday night to stay at Apsley House, a lovely little hotel situated on the hill overlooking the city. The hotel was superb – a four poster bed, roll top bath and great views out to the city. We then went to The Mint Room for a curry, which was fantastic!

Saturday morning, and we were off early to make the most of our day trip – the weather was perfect! It took a couple of attempts to park up first time – we had to negotiate two swing bridges that crossed the canal, not easy…
