Mykonos

Last week Clare and I took a holiday to Mykonos, Greece and stayed at the Nissaki Boutique Hotel on Platys Gialos. On arrival, we were greeted with a glass of champagne and told we had been upgraded to the honeymoon suit – a great start to our holiday! We dumped our cases in the room and explored the hotel, which was incredible. Situated above Psarou Beach with views out to the ocean, the bay was dotted with millionaire yachts. With an infinity pool, outside Jacuzzi and ‘Sun Pods’ for making the most of the warm weather, we quickly settled in for the week!

Every evening we took a short walk down to Platis Gialos Beach, which had a number of restaurants situated on the sea front. Our favorite was Avil Tou Thordori. It offered a great atmosphere with superb food! Over the week we got to know some of the staff there, who were all very friendly – especially Kostas who looked after us most evenings. We also found a lovely Sushi restaurant at the end of the beach called Bonatsa, again very friendly staff and superb food! Everywhere we went gave us free puddings too! Not so good for the waistline!!

Most days, well – everyday! we spent by the hotel pool in our sun pod watching the yachts come and go. The staff at Nissaki were fantastic! Michala, the hotel waitress, made our stay very enjoyable. She always made time to talk to us and make sure we had everything we needed. Vasiliki on the front desk and Napoleon also made our stay feel very welcome – nothing was too much trouble. They even put a birthday cake and champagne in our room on Clare’s birthday!

I think we had the perfect holiday here – it was one of our best and a place I’d certainly recommend staying. We were very sad to leave. Here are some snaps from the week:
