The Mikado

This May the Oxford Operatic Society staged The Mikado at the Oxford Playhouse. I had been asked to take some photos of the rehearsals earlier in the year, and wanted to accompany the show’s official photographer and friend of mine, Ian Bateman, to the dress rehearsal. It still amazes me how the show comes together on-stage having only rehearsed in various halls for the past four months.

I hadn’t seen a production of The Mikado before, so wasn’t sure what to expect – but OxOps did a brilliant job! Great lighting and sound in the Oxford Playhouse; its a much more intimate theatre than some of the other venues in Oxford, and I think OxOps shows work best in these settings.

Here are some photos I took from the dress rehearsal of The Mikado. The official photos are available to order through Ian Bateman.
